This month it’s Fundamental Rights February and our articles will be focussed on this theme. We have viewpoint articles from Patrick Henry, Chair of the CCBE Human Rights Committee, Italian NGO ‘Hands off Cain’ and Cris McCurley, Partner at Ben Hoare Bell LLP and member of The Law Society’s Access to Justice Committee. They have contributed articles on the CCBE Human Rights Award, Italian Moratorium on Executions and Developments in Legal Aid for victims of domestic abuse.

We have prepared several articles on topics under the fundamental rights umbrella, such as online hate speech, challenges facing human rights organisations and an update on the status of Charter rights in light of Brexit.

Our office also attended the European Association Awards in Brussels on 23 February at the Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel. It was the first time our office publication, the Brussels Agenda had been nominated for an award and it was great to celebrate the hard work of our team at this prestigious celebration. The main event of the night went to our colleagues from the Law Society of Scotland for taking home the Silver Award for the Most Innovative Development by an Association for their new charity the LawScot Foundation – a big congratulations to them!
