‘When I was offered a six month secondment at The Law Society (TLS) in Brussels by the managing partner of LDS, it seemed like an opportunity that I could not refuse.

Little did I know that, one week after my interview with the Law Societies Joint Brussels Office, 51.89% of UK voters would choose to leave the EU, plunging the UK, the rest of the Europe and the wider world into a mixture of fear, hope, and, most of all, confusion.

And so my six months at the TLS Brussels Office, which represents the three UK Law Societies, lobbying the EU institutions, were spent conducting ‘business as usual’, whilst also coming to grips with the implications of the UK’s impending departure from the Union.’
